Introducing Little Skin Treats

Hi! I'm just a person (not an AI, I promise) who had a little idea to start a skincare company.

I'm a young woman who works in a male-dominated industry, and I wanted to start something that would be an outlet for me. My current job is draining, but selfcare and the freedom to express myself give me life.

When I come home from a long day at work, all I want to do is have my "spa time." I put on some relaxing music—sometimes a podcast, I'm a podcast junky I admit—I dim the lights, and lather on my favorite cleansers to remove my makeup. I'll apply a face mask to keep my adult acne at bay (probably caused by my stressful job, let's be honest), and I'll enjoy those 10 quiet minutes with me, myself and my face.

Sometimes if I'm feeling extra bougie, I'll light a candle—eucalyptus scented or something to that effect—and I'll gently rinse my face mask off. I will pamper myself and spend a ridiculous amount of time doing it, because I deserve it.

Do I need a reason?

Next come the serums and moisturizers. I massage the products into every last damn (sometimes stubborn) pore.

When I was younger, I struggled with cystic acne. Like many teens, I was made fun of for my red inflamed cheeks, forehead and chin. The chin acne was the worst, especially around my period.

I was so embarrassed and hid my face.

I used strategies like positioning the hair around my face as a curtain, covering the sides of my cheeks. I got bangs. Anything to cover my skin.

My parents would tell me to just wash my face with soap and water and it would eventually go away.

But it didn't.

That's when I decided to pour myself into learning about dermatology. I wanted to understand what was happening with my skin—how sebum production and cell turnover works, how pores get clogged, and how inflammation occurs in the body.

I learned about the chemistry, and what could be applied topically to treat active flareups and prevent them from happening in the future.

Salicylic acid became my best friend. Fast-forward to my adult years, and I still swear by this holy grail ingredient.

So skincare is like that loyal friend of yours who shows up for you every day.

Rain or shine, breakout or not, skincare is there to be your selfcare. Your ride or die.

For me, skincare is a treatment, but it is also a treat.

What do I mean by this?

Skincare needs to work, but it should also be something you enjoy doing. It should have effective ingredients backed by scientific studies, but it should also be more appealing to use than a medicine bottle. For a skincare treatment to work, you need to use it on the daily to be effective long-term, and you should want to reach for it over and over again.

After all, your skin is the largest organ in your body, and it deserves to be treated well.

Little Skin Treats is my way of teaching the world about real skincare that is science-backed but fun. Like the cool girl at school who is also a straight-A student. She's the girl you want to have in your life for the long haul.

I promise that I will pour myself into this company and bring you products that are worth your investment.

You deserve a little pampering. A little treat.
